Tetelcingo Nahuatl (Mösiehuali̱)

Tetelcingo Nahuatl is a member of the Aztecan (Nahuan) branch of the Uto-Aztecan language spoken. It is spoken by about 3,500 people in the north of Morelos in south-central Mexico, particularly in the town of Tetelcingo (Tetetsinko - "the place of pebbles"), and in Cuauhtémoc and Colonia Lázaro Cárdenas. It is closely related to Classical Nahuatl.

Tetelcingo Nahuatl is also known as Tetelcingo Aztec. Náhuatl de Tetelcingo or Náhuatl Muosieuale. Speakers of Tetelcingo Nahuatl call their language Mösiehuali̱.

It was first documented in 1935 by William Cameron Townsend (1896-1982), an American missionary-linguist and the founder of Wycliffe Bible Translators and the Summer Institute of Linguistics (now SIL International). It is written with the Latin alphabet, and there are several spelling systems. Tetelcingo Nahuatl is used, along with Spanish, as a medium of instruction in primary / elementary schools.
